If Egypt has been on your bucket list, now is the time to go—and I can say that from firsthand experience. Traveling with Ama Waterways on their incredible Secrets of Egypt & the Nile cruise was not only the journey of a lifetime, it was immersive, safe, and deeply personal. From standing in the shadows of the Great Pyramids to drifting down the Nile like the ancients, every moment was steeped in wonder and history.

Our adventure began in Cairo, a city pulsing with energy and contrast. Modern life bustled all around us as we explored the Egyptian Museum, home to an awe-inspiring collection of ancient artifacts including the treasures of Tutankhamun. We also visited the Ancient Memphis sites, where colossal statues and ancient ruins told stories of a powerful civilization that once ruled the world.

From Cairo, we took a short flight to Luxor, the gateway to Egypt’s immense archaeological treasures. There, we boarded our luxurious AmaWaterways ship—our floating hotel for the next seven nights. Let me tell you, there is truly nothing like cruising the Nile River in comfort while watching the timeless Egyptian landscape unfold before your eyes.

One of the first stops was the Luxor Temple, a breathtakingly preserved site that comes to life under the glow of evening lights. With our expert Egyptologist guide, every carving, column, and corridor had context and meaning. And yes, we traveled with security, which made every moment feel safe and seamless. You could focus on soaking it all in, worry-free.

We explored the Karnak Temple, one of the largest religious structures ever built, and wandered through the Valley of the Kings, where we descended into tombs that felt like time capsules—colorful and reverent, echoing the lives and afterlives of powerful pharaohs. An exclusive highlight was our visit to the Temple of Hathor, one of the best preserved temples of ancient Egypt. The colors and artistry took my breath away.

In Edfu and Aswan, the wonders kept coming. We visited towering temples, sailed on a traditional felucca boat, and even spent time in a Nubian Village, learning firsthand about their vibrant culture and traditions.

We wrapped up our journey with a return flight to Cairo and a special visit to the Abdeen Presidential Palace for a lunch fit for a King and a visit to Old Cairo, giving us one last look at Egypt’s rich layers of past and present.

Throughout it all, I felt a profound connection to history—and a surprising sense of awe. Egypt is ready to welcome travelers with open arms, and doing it with Ama Waterways ensures your experience is both luxurious and meaningful.

If you’ve ever dreamed of walking with the pharaohs, floating down the Nile, or seeing the Great Pyramids with your own eyes, don’t wait. Egypt is calling—and trust me, it’s even more magical than you imagined.
